Every artist picks up a tag before they pick up a mic. Mine came first 🎙️ “Toolz,” the nickname that stuck from when I was a yung buck, for reasons that are exactly as obvious as they sound. It followed me straight into the booth.
Years before HerbSyde existed, teenage me opened every freestyle the same way: “It’s Toolz On Mic.” One time I tacked an unfiltered word onto the end for punctuation (cos man was CRUNK), the room reacted, and a habit became a hook: “It’s Toolz On Mic… Bitch.” Shorten that to its initials and you get T.O.M.B., Toolz On Mic Bitch 🎙️ the four letters I ran into the ground on every DatPiff-era tape, and the same four letters The Pre TOMB, The TOMB and The Pro TOMB still carry in their names today.

🎙️ The line that became the BRANDDecember 2025 is when it got serious. After years away from the booth, I started formulating a plan to get active again, and it turned into more than a mixtape: a full collective of rapperz and producerz, all under one name, HerbSyde.
Truth is, my mixtapez were meant to drop next year, not this year. But the HerbSyde gang pushed HerbSyderz forward 6 months, so it’s been a MADTING 🤪🔥 I’m the main planner, editor, releaser AND marketer for HerbSyde, all while dropping my own content on the side. Many hats, one head (which fits, cos I got a BEAN HEAD 🫘😂), and I’m loving every minute of it 🎩 The mixtapez are all connected 🕸️ and the web’s only getting bigger.
Toolz On Mic (TOMB). I’m of Irish and Gambian heritage, born n bred in London, and 1 of the founding voices of HerbSyde.
I specialise in heavy multisyllabic rhyme schemes · which we call doubles, triples, quadruples, quintuples n so on if you’re a badman · cos who wants dem dead single rhymes… Bat, Cat, Mat, Rat, it’s just dead to us lol. Anyway, we chain these across full 8 barz & more sometimes. The last 8 barz of Pull It Up is a PRIME example of this: 8 barz with 40 chaining rhymes YO! (Check it out.) That one also features BannDIgz (My Main Nigz).
I used to release on DatPiff.com (I’m that old) and also sold physical CDs we burned ourselves, gave out and gave to Big Apple Records in Croydon. Nine plus projects deep, and the old music is still on my SoundCloud.
My older brother, known as Brotherman (also Gabrial), was a massive underground artist in the jungle rave scene who sung as well as spat. His passing in 2019 is what pushed me back into writing, and that’s where the road to HerbSyde started.
2026 was a test of sorts, physically & mentally, dealing with life etc, while still trying to make a mixtape, but I done it anyway (dropped 2 in fact). It’z Been Out 4 TIME! and its companion tape The Skitz & Bonuses, featuring BannDIgz, Kayto & Yung, both dropped in July 2026.
